What to expect LDT
Dance Team is a Minnesota State High School League winter sport through the Detroit Lakes school district that runs mid October through mid February. Dancers will need to register with the school prior to the start of the season and follow their requirements.
We hold practice 2-4 hours per week in the summer and attend a summer team camp in July. During the season, dancers will condition together every day after school and then separate for the remainder of practice. Jazz and kick teams practice 2-3 days per week (each), from approximately 4-6. We compete approximately 10 times and may perform 2-3 times in addition to competitions during our season. Competitions are typically every Saturday in December & January, with sections and the state tournament in February.
Uniforms are supplied for by the school with the exception of any needed base layers, tights or shoes; which can vary from year to year. Individual fundraisers are available to help pay for warm ups (this is the last year for current warm ups) and camp. Any questions about the team or the commitment please contact Coach Britt at 218-234-1698.
Tryouts are open to all current 6-11th graders in the Detroit Lakes school district. Dancers can try out for only kick or jazz, however we strongly encourage trying both - even if you haven't be trained in that style before!
By submitting the registration form you are agreeing to adhere to MSHSL, DLHS and LDT policies.
